Yogi Tip #18, Meditation for the Negative Mind

Meditation for the Negative Mind

This Kundalini Yoga Meditation for the Negative Mind powerfully cleanses the negative mind of unwanted thoughts and desires. Throughout the day, many unwanted thoughts enter our mind our natural reaction is to push them away with an energy of aversion or our ego grabs on to them and they loop over and over in our heads. Both of these reactions pushes these unwanted thoughts deeper into our subconscious, giving them energy so that the play out in our lives on an unconscious level.

It is said that the subconscious makes over 60% of our actions (or re-actions). This meditation for the negative mind will clear these thoughts and allow us to live more from our neutral (angelic / higher) mind. Try it as your 40 day sadhana.

POSTURE: Sit in easy pose with a straight spine.

MUDRA: Make a cup of the hands with both palms facing up. The right hand rests on top of the left hand. The right fingers cross over the left fingers. Place the cup of the hands at the heart centre. Elbows relaxed at the sides.

EYES: 1/10 open, looking down into the cupped hands.

BREATH: Inhale deeply through the nose. Exhale through rounded lips. You will feel the breath on the hands. As you inhale allow unwanted desires and negative thoughts to enter your mind. As you exhale completely let them go to clear the negative mind.

TIME: Practice for 11 minutes to begin with, work up to 31 minutes per day.

TO END: To end inhale powerfully, exhale completely through the nose. Repeat this breath 3 -5 times. Relax completely.
