Full Moon in Taurus – October 2012

This Full Moon in Taurus increases the energy on the Planet reigniting our willpower and determination to make the changes we know we are ready for. This is going to help those of us who have found that this year has been an intense roller-coaster, with frequent oscillating between self-doubt and an absolute knowing it’s all happening perfectly. We are coming to the end of 2012 and things are looking pretty bleak if you listen to the mainstream media and watch the news. It’s like the darkness before the dawn.
Fortunately, we are also blessed with all the love that we need at this time. Taurus is ruled by Venus the goddess of Love. This lunar love energy combined with Beltane, the great Celtic festival of fertility, makes it a potent time for lovers. These energies invite us to enjoy a rise in our passion, so do something special with your loved ones. Don’t let it pass you by with silly bickering and fighting, especially if you are locked into the blame game. This moon can make us more stubborn and hot-headed, particularly when we think we are right. Call a truce over this moon and enjoy some romantic time instead.
Issues of security and stability may also come up for you, especially if you are feeling uncomfortable or unsafe with your living situation. Conversely, if you are happy with your home, you will find yourself really appreciating it over the next few weeks and seeing where you can improve, paint and do general DIY on it. This is a practical moon so get as much done as you can while its energy is strong and powerful.
The Taurean energy gives us a boost of self-belief and determination to continue regardless of the obstacles that we are facing. It will also trigger synchronicities, breakthroughs and important connections to help ground our visions more into reality and give us hope.
This moon also keeps us grounded so that we don’t fall into despair or get too carried away by the fantasy. We become more practical and down-to-earth enabling us to make better decisions around finances and business matters. Our self-discipline and fortitude increases, so use the momentum to give up an addiction or habit that you know is not serving you.
We are more able to complete projects over this moon, and more importantly, end a project that has lost its energy and is not going anywhere, especially if there is an emotional attachment to it. Use this opportunity to stream line your life by cutting the ‘dead wood’ that is sucking energy, money and time.
We have also reached our third and final Mercury Retrograde for this year that starts 6th November to 26th November. Interestingly, the last time the planets looked like this was in 1933, and fuelled the rise of Hitler.
All eyes are on America now, as whoever wins the elections on November 6th will have a significant influence on where we are headed. I feel that on some level the die has been cast already and we must remain strong, positive and loving regardless of the outcome.
On a more practical note the usual Mercury mayhem will create havoc with communications on all levels. Travel plans, technological equipment and electrical goods can go haywire during this time.
The period during a Mercury Retrograde is best spent revisiting, re-examining and re-evaluating the past. It gives us a much needed opportunity to catch our breath and see how far we have come in order to see where we are going.
It’s best not to make any big decisions, or sign any agreements or contracts during this period, if you can help it. Things can often look very different after Mercury goes forward again.
If things seem to be slowing down in November, embrace the change of pace and just trust your flow, even if it means you are sleeping and resting a lot. As we reach Summer Solstice the energy on the Planet will increase to an intensity we have not experienced before.
Use the power of this moon to reignite your hope and faith, however far away your dreams and visions may seem. A dream only dies when we let go of it, and this moon gives us the strength and determination to continue onwards and upwards towards a brighter future.
I will end this Lunascope with the wise words of Martin Luther King Jr.
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
Taurus Full Moon Ritual
The 31st October also celebrates dia del los muertos or Day of the Dead. It is the day that we honour our ancestors and loved ones who have passed on. It is said that the veil between our ancestors, the dead, and this dimension becomes very thin during this period. It is the best time of the year to connect and contact those who have passed over, as they can come more easily to us in spirit.
This is a Ritual to connect with our ancestors or those who are deceased.
Find some space and time, as it is essential you do this ritual in peace and quiet. Create a warm, nurturing space where you feel calm, peaceful and harmonious. Breathe in deeply using your diaphragm and breathe out all stress and negativity so that your mind becomes clear and focused on the present. Repeat this three times.
Close your eyes and see yourself in a sacred space – your sacred space, your temple. Imagine a golden light creating the infinity sign (figure of eight) swirling on the floor and sit in one of half of the eight.
Set the intention that you are ready to connect with the person or persons that you need to speak with and then call them in by name one by one, either aloud or from your heart. See them clearly sitting opposite you in the other half of the eight. Send them love, peace and harmony and then tell them what has been in your heart and on your mind.
It could be something that was never said when the person was alive, or a misunderstanding or argument that didn’t find resolution. It could be that you didn’t get to say goodbye or just a need to check in and see if they are doing ok.
The reason isn’t important. The need to connect is and you will know who to connect with as they will already come to you strongly.
When you feel completed you can ask them to share with you. Listen patiently, without judgement. It might not be words or speech as we know it. It could be an energy that we suddenly feel, of forgiveness, relief, love, completion. Whatever you feel, trust it’s real.
Don’t allow the mind to fuel doubts and negativity or interfere with the energy that is flowing from your heart. Your mind is controlled only by the five senses, whereas the heart is controlled by the sixth sense, energy.
The more you can remain in a heart-centered space and be in your ritual without an ounce of doubt the process is powerful to complete and let go, or reconnect and check in.
