Full Moon in Aries, October 2013

The Libran new moon brought to the surface hidden issues and conflicts within our relationships and, as we reach the full moon in Aries, we are seeing an increase in fire energy which will heighten the already intense processes we are going through.
If you have not been able to find resolution over the last two weeks, these struggles may amplify over this moon cycle, especially as it is a penumbral eclipse, illuminating things to an even greater degree.
Whereas, under the Libran new moon we were urged to find solutions and compromise, now the Aries fiery energy will be more focused on being forthright, honest and direct. We have to lay our cards on the table and speak what is on our minds.
Aries is a fire sign ruled by Mars, the planet of war and passion. If we are feeling disempowered by others and external circumstances that we have no control over, this decisive moon can propel us forward to break the cycle and be free.
This passionate, dominate sign is urging us to get back in the driving seat of our own destinies and anything that is not serving you, people, job, beliefs, is about to become a whole lot more challenging.
This full moon in Aries is all about action, rather than wallowing too much in the emotional arena. It gives us the courage to jump off the cliff, walk into the unknown, and do something reckless and spontaneous. But be careful not to burn your bridges or release the fireworks.
When we feel frustrated and angry, this eclipsed full moon in Aries can unleash a deep feeling of aggression, which we may see playing out in the wider world, as people rebel under repression. Aries rubs the salt into the hidden wounds that have been festering deep within.
The Aries/Libra cycle reminds us that we must find cooperation, instead of conflict, peace, instead of war, and recognise the ‘we’ in every partnership. During this Aries moon we need to find the balance between enforcing our personal choices and needs and finding mutual compromise and consensus with a peaceful and harmonious outcome.
This moon also provides a fair bit of enthusiasm and excitement for projects, ideas and creative endeavours, especially if things are going well and opportunities are opening up. This will only get better. On the other hand if you have been bogged down by stuff, this is a good time to refocus and get your ideas and projects out to a wider audience fuelled by the vitality and energy of the Ram, the symbol of Aries.
However, being overly domineering, blunt, pushy, controlling, and antisocial can work in the negative way, shutting down opportunities and burning bridges, especially as we are about to enter another period of Mercury retrograde starting Monday 21st October, so things will naturally be slowing down, giving us 3 weeks to revise, re-evaluate and reflect the past few months.
Mercury, the planet of communication, goes retrograde (backwards) three times a year, giving us the opportunity to take stock of the path we have been travelling and make sure we are taking the right steps forward.
During this time electronic items can break down, travel arrangements go wrong, meetings are cancelled or delayed and anything concerning communications and signing contracts can end in disarray, often outside of our control.
Use the three weeks of Mercury retrograde to make sure you on track with where your life is heading. Once it goes forward again on November 10th there won’t be another opportunity for this type of reflection until next February.
So we have an action-packed two weeks until we hit the total solar eclipse during the Scorpio New Moon to add even more tension to the mix. Phew, I feel full of anticipation just thinking about it!
The key to ride this coming wave is to remain clear on who you are and what you want to achieve, create and manifest. When we are have that clarity we can be open to all the opportunities that are opening for us, and let go of anything that is no longer serving us, thereby controlling any fires that ignite, rather than pour petrol onto them.
Use this full moon in Aries and Mercury retrograde wisely to make and take decisions that put you back in charge of your life so that you can re-empower yourself and enjoy the adventure.
I will end this Moonscope with the wise words of Helen Keller:
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.”
Love and Blessings to my moon sista Rebekah Shaman for this post.

“In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man’s proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it’s yours.” ~ Ayn Rand
“I believe the single most significant decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my past, my education, my bankroll, my successes or failures, fame or pain, what other people think of me or say about me, my circumstances, or my position. Attitude keeps me going or cripples my progress. It alone fuels my fire or assaults my hope. When my attitudes are right, there is no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for me.” ~ Charles R Swindoll
Aries Full Moon Ritual
With the increase of fiery energy this Aries full moon, you may be accessing angry, frustrated, confused, and ‘out of control’ feelings. We encourage you to use this anger as a meditation. Allow yourself to FEEL the anger, without letting your thoughts get in the way. When we get in touch with the raw energy of how we are feeling we can use it to energise and empower us. Check out our Yogi Tip to help you with this.
Go to a drumming circle, dance class or of course, practice some yoga. Do some strong exercise that tires you out so that your mind stops spinning. Take it out on a pillow, go into nature and have a scream or meditate and let the anger flow out of the soles of your feet as black sludge. However you do it release the pent up emotion, just as it is, so you can think clearly again and get back into a positive e(nergy)-motion.
This is the perfect time to burn everything you want to let go of in the Aries full moon fire. Write down all the things that are holding you back from being you and following your path. This may be on the emotional, mental, spiritual or physical level. Be as honest as you can. The more in touch you are with your fears and feelings, the easier it is to let go of them.
If you are able to, light a fire outside and, as the flames rise, burn the list in the flames. See the smoke rise up into the night sky, burning away the barriers and the past, and creating space for new beginnings. If you are indoors use a candle to burn the list (use adequate precautions) and, as the list is reduced to ashes, feeling the energy that is holding you back burn away.
Go out into the moonlight and connect with the full moon energy and send your prayers, hopes and dreams out into the great Universe. When we cannot control the external circumstances we must surrender to what is happening, and ask for what we want to create. This is the power of prayer.
