Full Moon in Capricorn (Supermoon) – June 2013

Sunday 23rd June 2013 9:32pm (AEST)
WINTER SOLSTICE –
Winter Solstice Friday 21st June 2013
We have reached midwinter (winter solstice), and the peak of the longest nights and shortest days. From now, the sun’s light slowly begins to increase until the Spring Equinox when we reach the balance of dark and light and then the days get longer than the nights.
Fueling this energy we have the full moon in Capricorn, also considered a supermoon. A supermoon means that the moon is closest to earth on its elliptical orbit making the moon seem much bigger and dramatically heightening its energy and influence. This is also the closest and largest full moon of 2013.
This timely moon is helpful for those who are feeling there are big changes happening but cannot yet see it manifesting at a physical level. It’s bringing with it a sense of expectancy, excitement and anticipation for the future. Fortunately, Capricorn represents the resilience and nimbleness of the mountain goat, its symbol. It reignites our ambition and productivity while keeping our feet firmly on the ground.
This is because it is also a feminine earth sign ruled by Saturn, the planet of restrictions and limitations. We are also given a good dose of Capricornian patience enabling us to flow more harmoniously. Saturn makes us look at our commitments, responsibilities and the discipline needed to get to where we want to go. Auspiciously, under this moon Jupiter, the planet of expansion and growth sits in direct opposition and conjuncts the sun, creating an interesting push/pull of energy.
The key this full moon in Capricorn is intimacy – to share the real you, your dreams and ideas, more widely with the world. By just being who you are can open doors that you never knew were there, rather than try and work it out from a limited, rational mind mentality.
Trust your intuition, however wild it gets. Sometimes we can be a bit over cautious during this moon, missing vital opportune moments that we don’t recognise because we are stuck in the past, fear and judgement.
To add to the energetic intensity we have our second Mercury Retrograde on June 26th – July 20th. Three weeks where the planet of Communication goes backward, which could slow down projects that seem to be coming to fruition.
Communications are often disrupted, as Mercury puts us back in tune with ‘natural time.’ It is often better to delay signing any agreements or making any definite decisions during this time, as things often bound forward and change after Mercury goes forward.
Don’t allow this process to burst your bubble. Many of us who have planted seeds will soon see a collective blooming. This Mercury retrograde is perfectly timed to give us an opportunity to reassess, revise and re-evaluate our projects, the direction we are going and the goals we have set, before the harvest begins. Instead use this time for reflection. The more we trust the natural flow of nature and our intuitions the easier the three weeks will be.
When we align ourselves with the natural rhythms of nature, we can see more clearly how perfectly connected and unified everything is. If you do start feeling anxious, depressed and frustrated, hug a tree. Feel yourself merging with the strong, solid trunk and then travel down through the root structure and then up through the branches, expanding your energy and vibration until you feel solid and strong again. This is a beneficial exercise for both you and the tree, as all living things resonate at the touch level.
Even though in reality, things pretty much look the same for many of us these planetary alignments are making us feel positive, optimistic and excited about what is to come. My advice is to stay true to your path with full trust and faith that everything is happening perfectly and then just enjoy the ride.
I will end this with the wise words of Theodore Roosevelt:
“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure… than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”
With Gratitude, Blessings and Love to my moon sister Rebekah Shaman for this post.
