Full Moon in Virgo – February 2013

FULL MOON IN VIRGO – Tuesday 26th February, 7:26am (AEST)

What does the Virgo full moon energy hold for us? Last new moon we experienced becoming more compassionate; now it’s time to share with others how this has changed us. Virgo is a sign of service, so time to share our ideas on healing and working for others. This time reminds us to fill ourselves up with the gentleness of the moon because under the analytical sign of Virgo we can sometimes be too critical.

We can also feel really fired up over a Virgo full moon, and ready for anything. This is a good time to file papers, complete that tax return, clean the car/home/garage, or do some gardening. Under a Virgo moon we become more practical and motivated to act. We are inspired to do the mundane things that often get relegated to the bottom of the priority list.

However, from Sunday we will be in Mercury Retrograde till 17th March. Mercury is the planet of communication, so when it goes retrograde it causes chaos and interrupts the channels of communication. Mercury retrograde in Pisces brings to the surface the need to communicate our truth. During this time it’s going to become harder to remain a silent witness to the blatant injustices and deceitfulness happening around us, whether it’s happening on a personal level or a more collective experience.

Three times a year Mercury also gives us the space to stop doing, so that we can integrate what we have learnt so far. Use this time wisely, by taking a step back and surveying how far you have come, where you are, and where you want to go.

Now is the time, to be cautious and follow the old adage more haste, less speed! Rushing into action during Mercury retrograde can be a recipe for disaster. It is better to marinate ideas and projects and delay making decisions. Not all that glitters is gold during Mercury retrograde. That’s why it’s better not to sign any contracts, agreements, or make any important decisions. Also avoid buying any electrical items, computer equipment and don’t get too freaked out if travel plans go haywire.

Now, more than ever, we can no longer work out the future from our limited three dimensional perspective because there are so many options and possibilities. Surrender to your inner knowing and truth instead of trying to control an outcome or rationally work out the next steps.

Our intuition and psychic abilities are more highly tuned during this moon so it’s the perfect time to really listen to your inner-self. When we follow our intuition we can achieve a lot more. Following our hearts can also help reduce the potentially obsessive, over analytical and perfectionist Virgo mindset.

We may also find ourselves believing our self-delusions, rather than seeing reality as it is, especially during a Mercury retrograde, so beware of excessive behaviour. Virgo gives us the tenacity and determination to follow through with our convictions. Rather than get too controlling, this is a really good time to let go of some of your negative habits if they are not serving you. Make a feasible promise to yourself and see it through no matter what. The feeling of achievement will be worth the struggle.

The key this moon is to let go of trying to control the external world, but look inwards to find the answers and trust yourself.
I will end this with the wise words of Golda Meir:

“Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.”

With Gratitude, Blessings and Love to my moon sista Rebekah Shaman for this post.
