New Moon in Leo, July 2014

Sunday 27th July 2014, 8.41am (AEST)
The new moon in Leo is a welcome relief from the turbulent Cancer/Capricorn moon cycle we have just had. The last full moon brought to the surface all the limitations and blocks that were holding us back. Now is the time to release them so we can step out into the world and share our talents, skills and creativity with others.
It heralds a new moon cycle and with it a promise of a brighter future. It is the moon that gives us permission to shine our light bright by letting go of the fear and standing in our power.
Leo is ruled by the sun, so we are fuelled to stop hiding, come out from the shadows, and be proud to be the centre of attention. This is when we crave recognition and appreciation for who we are and what we are doing.
We are also urged on by this moon to be the best, and to feel we have achieved our goals. This can sometimes make it a tricky moon, especially if you are not happy with who you are and where you are going.
This dark moon can illuminate our negative characteristics and heighten any self-esteem issues. We may blow things out of proportion and make a mountain out of a mole hill. Self-expression is important but be aware, tempers may flair if you feel you hold the absolute truth.
If you find yourself ruminating over past mistakes and situations, and feelings of regret, helplessness and victimization become overwhelming, bring yourself back to the now and concentrate on all the blessings in your life. When we are in the now we feel safer, secure and happier.
Enhancing the potent energy of the new moon in Leo – Jupiter, the planet of expansion and good fortune – is aligning with the moon two days later, prolonging the energy and creating greater opportunities for our projects and creative endeavours to find recognition.
This is a time to trust in Mother Nature’s support regarding your projects and visions and celebrate the new moon in Leo by enjoying our own creativity, successes and everything we have achieved.
Leo is one of the most passionate moons and a good time for romance, attention and affection. We are warmer, more generous and forgiving under this moon, so use the energy to repair any damaged relationships, resolve differences, and gives us the courage to make peace.
Do not be afraid to shine this moon and follow your heart. Leo is symbolised by the Lion, the king of the jungle and insists we celebrate our uniqueness, personal glory and greatness, because if we don’t believe in ourselves, no one else will!
I will end this Moonscope with the wise words of JM Power:
“If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up.”
Love and Blessings to my moon sista Rebekah Shaman for this post.

New Moon Ritual
This new Moon ritual is a time for meditation and contemplation on who you are, fully accepting and loving yourself regardless of the mistakes made in the past, and knowing that you deserve your dreams coming true.
When you have completed all your tasks for the day and you are ready to give the time to yourself, find a quiet, safe and peaceful space to do this ritual. Sit in a comfortable position – with your back straight if possible. Close your eyes and become aware of your body. Connect with your toes, legs, thighs, torso, arms, neck, face and then crown. Bring your attention to the breath and as you exhale imagine any stresses and frustrations being exhaled right out your body. Repeat this process three times.
With your eyes still closed imagine that a powerful flame of acceptance and love for who you are and what you are doing is burning bright and strong deep in your solar plexus chakra, where our self-worth emanates.
Feel its golden light spreading around your body and become aware of any sensations that are coming up. Let the flame of self-worth consume you, letting any negative thoughts or chatter out through the soles of the feet as black sludge.
Continue to feel this flame of self -worth until you are completely consumed by it and accept/feel/know that you deserve all you desire and imagine and that you are worthy enough to attain it.
