CANCER NEW MOON
Thursday 16th July, 11:24am (AEST)
Being Vulnerable!
“Instant Karma’s gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you’re gonna be dead
What in the world you thinking of
Laughing in the face of love
What on earth you tryin’ to do
It’s up to you, yeah you
Instant Karma’s gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darlin’
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see
Laughin’ at fools like me
Who in the hell d’you think you are
A super star
Well, right you are
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Everyone come on
Instant Karma’s gonna get you
Gonna knock you off your feet
Better recognize your brothers
Everyone you meet
Why in the world are we here
Surely not to live in pain and fear
Why on earth are you there
When you’re everywhere
Come and get your share
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Yeah we all shine on
Come on and on and on on on
Yeah we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun”
– John Lennon
July is already turning out to be full of surprises starting off with the intense Capricorn full moon. Now we are in the watery energy of this Cancer new moon before ending this month will the Aquarius blue moon.
The focus this Cancer New Moon will be on the consequences of our actions. The instant Karma that John Lennon was speaking about all those years ago is now reality. We are all being made to see where we need to start taking personal responsibility, and start looking within to find the answers.
Cancer is ruled by the moon and so illuminates the parts of ourselves that is not in alignment with who we truly are, the part of us that we feel is holding us back. This watery moon, can therefore be quite an emotional rollercoaster, as we face our insecurities, regrets and disappointments.
Accentuating these feelings is that the Cancer moon rules the home and family and shows us where our loyalty really lies. It also shows us perceived failings and weaknesses in our intimate relationships, where we need support and security, and where we are feeling defenceless and sensitive.
It also shows us where we are guarded and fearful of showing our vulnerability, in order not to seem weak. But by hiding our true feelings and emotions we can often become hard, and trapped behind a thick shell, just as the crab.
Cancer’s part of the body is the belly, the soft underside of the crab, that is not protected by hard shell. To remove the armour you need to follow your intuition. Your intuition is that knowing within of what you really want, your ‘gut’ instinct, underneath all the conditioning, patterns, behaviours and addictions.
Use this moon to trust your intuition, soften up, lighten up, and start focusing on all the magic that is around you. We are living in a duality reality, so whatever burden you may be carrying there is a huge blessing happening simultaneously, you just need to change your perspective to see it.
During this period you may well be feeling like you are going sideways rather than straight. Rather than analyse too much on what you are doing wrong, adopt the attitude of the crab and surrender. Sometimes going sideways can take us closer to our destination.
I will end this Moonscope with the wise words of John Steinbeck:
“It has always seemed strange to me…The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.”
CANCER NEW MOON RITUAL
This Cancer new moon is a good time to look at just how much time you spend nourishing and loving yourself. Sometimes with all the hectic, crazy things that happen we can forget ourselves. Cancer reminds us that we need to care of ourselves. This is a great exercise to remind you just how wonderful you are and how you deserve to take time out for YOU!!
Sit in a quiet room – be patient and wait until you have completed all your tasks for the day and you are ready to give the time to yourself. Light some incense, sit in a comfortable position with your back straight. Close your eyes and become aware of your body. Connect with your toes, legs, thighs, torso, arms, neck, face and then crown. Inhale all your stresses and release all your frustrations, just breathe them right out your body, repeat this three times.
Now hug yourself long and deep. Physically wrap your arms around your body, and feel the self-love pour into you from yourself. Feel the love flow around your body, igniting your cells and expanding your heart. Release any negative energy such as shame, pain, fear, rejection, isolation, anxiety or stress, out through the soles of your feet as black sludge. Don’t stop until your whole body accepts and surrenders to the hug.
Pick up a piece of paper, or your journal and write down all the things you have ACHIEVED. Don’t be mean with yourself. Really acknowledge all the things you have done however small, for every action has an impact. Read over what you have written and absorb it, allowing the words to flow around you. Now write an epithet in third person about yourself. How do others see you? What will you be remembered for?
Try not to think too much, as it may restrict what you write. Let your heart speak through the writing. These are your private thoughts for you alone so don’t be shy or modest. The more truthful you are the more empowering this exercise becomes (the divine paradox)…..
If you focus on how blessed you are this moon, and do one random act of kindness a day to pay it forward, you will find this moon a joyful, enriching experience!
The Cancerian moon reminds us that loving kindness towards ourselves, and others, is the quickest path to health and happiness and a more loving and peaceful world.
